How do i calculate standard deviation using a stem and leaf diagram?
Is it calculate mean list the numbers then square them add all up find Ex^2. Using standard deviation formula thrn put in values respectively fir bith mean and Ex^2?

Good evening Annela! I would put all the data points in a calculator to be stored so that I can use the in built function to calculate standard deviation. I only know how to do this on a Casio calculator.

Ok but if the question requires to draw a table to calculate Ex and Ex^2 then find standard deviation, how to do?

The letter “f” in the formula simply means frequency, so that in the event like sat, a data value “95” appears 100 times, you won’t have to write “9025 + 9025 + 9025 + 9025 + ...” for a total of 100 times.

Good evening Annela!!! Here is a sample idea of how to calculate standard deviation. You need to collect the data values for x and compute the following.
1. Total number of data values, n
2. Sum of all the x values, Ex
3. Compute the respective values of x2
4. Sum of all the x2 values, Ex2
5. Use the formula provided in the formula sheet
