There must have been 120 more males than females when the ratio was 7:3 (because 120 more females than males got inside to make the numbers equal).

So there are 7 units of males at first, 3 units of females at first and 120 more males than females at first.

4 units = 120 people
1 unit = 30 people
10 units = 300 people

So there are 300 people at first.

Since 48 males and 168 females join in,

Final number of people
= 300 + 48 + 168
= 516
