Do you know simultaneous equations? The only method I can think of as of now is via that.

Let x be the no. of companies & let y be the no. of tickets.

Equation (1)
4x = y + 20
because to give each of the companies 4 tickets each he still need another 20 more tickets to do so

Equation (2)
3x = y - 50
because to give each of the companies 3 tickets each he will have 50 tickets left

From the first equation, we can rearrange in such a way that x = y/4 +5

Substitute this new found equation into Equation 2:

3x = y - 50

so it becomes

3(y/4 + 5) = y - 50
y = 260 which is the no. of tickets!
