We use area scale for such questions.

The length scale is

1 : 750
1 cm : 750 cm
1 cm : 7.5 m

Squaring both sides to find the area scale,

1 cm2 : 56.25 m2

Now we can use the area scale to make area comparisons.

Area on the map
= 58 m2 x 1 cm2 / 56.25 m2
= 1.0311111... cm2
~ 1.03 cm2

By converting cm to metre first in the length scale, we avoid the need for the 1 m2 = 10000 cm2 conversion.
