The base length is 2 units Long.

The vertical height of the triangle is 4 units Long.

So, area is 1/2 x base x height = 1/2 x 2 x 4 = 4 units2.

Then, the full large square is 4 x 4 = 16 units2.

So, area of unshaded is 16 - 4 = 12 units2.

So, fraction of unshaded area = 12/16 = 3/4.
