Chelsea, points to take note :

Q2

The degree of the remainder is smaller than the degree of the divisor by at least 1.

So the remainder when divided by (x² - 4x + 3) is in the form ax + b.

Q3

Dividing by (3x - 4) is the same as dividing by (3(x - 4/3) ).

So (x³ + 9x - 14) ÷ (3x - 4)
= (x³ + 9x - 14) ÷ (3(x - 4/3))
= Quotient + remainder/(3(x - 4/3))

x³ + 9x - 14 = 3(x - 4/3)(quotient) + remainder

So you just need to substitute x = 4/3

f(4/3) = remainder
= (4/3)³ + 9(4/3) - 14
= 10/27

No long division is required
