We can use units to solve this easily.

Let the total volume of fruit punch be 6 units.

1 unit would have been used up, leaving 5 units unused.

6 units = 12 litres
1 unit = 12 / 6 = 2 litres
5 units = 2 x 5 = 10 litres

Amount of fruit punch unused
= 10 litres
= (10 x 1000) milllilitres
= 10000 ml

(since 1 litre = 1000 ml)
