If you have 3 points of a triangle, you can use the following formula:

Area= |x1(y2-y3) + x2(y3-y1) + x3(y1-y2)|/2

Let A, B and C be associated with 1 2 and 3. Substituting the coordinates will leave the unknown "k" in the modulus bracket. You then solve for both positive and negative values of area to get 2 different values of k
