Alternatively, you can do this way...
15-2=13
10-2=8
12-2=10
Total cube 15×10×12=1800
Total cube didn't the touch the side = 13×8×10=1040
Total cube touch the side=1800-1040 =760

May I know should we deduct the top as it is an open rectangular box?
Oops. You are right. Since it is open rectangular box but didn’t mentioned open at which side, assume top open. Top should not included. You answer is correct.
