That trapezium has area equivalent to 8 small squares (the small square is basically the four dots next to each other joined together) so the rectangle to be drawn has area equivalent to 16 small squares (could be a 8 by 2 rectangle).

There are several lengths to consider for the parallelogram.

The two slanted lengths of the parallelogram must be equal in total to the slanted length of the trapezium.

The remaining two lengths of the parallelogram must be equal in total length to the other three lengths of the trapezium.
