I need help for 2 w pls..... Tks in advance! :)
= 12/3
= 4 m
So each square is 4 m by 4 m and the rectangle is 12 m by 4 m (this breadth of the rectangle must be 4 m because we must fit one square along the breadth).
Total area is that of 2 squares and 1 rectangle
= 2 x 4 x 4 + 12 x 4
= 32 + 48
= 80 m2
(I am not sure if you have learnt the square root yet; if you have not, we find two same numbers which multiply to 81, and this is 9 x 9)
Then, the breadth of each rectangle
= 12 - 9
= 3 cm (you can see this using two of the joined rectangles)
From here, there are two ways to do this question.
Total area of the 4 rectangles
= 4 x 12 x 3
= 4 x 36
= 144 cm2
Or,
Length of giant square (yes, it’s a square)
= 12 + 3
= 15 cm
Total area of giant square
= 15 x 15
= 225 cm2
Total area of the 4 rectangles
= Area of giant square - Area of small square
= 225 - 81
= 144 cm2

This means that the breadth of the rectangle must be 4 m, since we are placing one square along this breadth.
Total area of the figure
= 2 x area of square + area of rectangle
= 2 x (4 x 4) + 12 x 4
= 2 x 16 + 48
= 32 + 48
= 80 m2
