Book: 5 units
(which is why pen is 3/5 of book)
Total: 8 units
8 units = 32
1 unit = 4
5 units = 20
3 units = 12
so the book costs $20 (and the pen costs $12).
It does not make sense for the book to cost $12 in this case.

The cost of the pen is $12 instead. I think either your question or answer sheet has a mistake.
