Thanks for the solution but according to the answer sheet that I have, it should be 7/8.

Oh ok.
Total chocolate cupcake he have = 8u
Total chocolate cupcake he give away=7u
So, fraction = 7u/8u = 7/8.
My misunderstanding the question.;)
