(a) 8M=12S, so 2M=3S. The pail can fit 12S. Now already have 3S (2M), so can still fit 12-3=9S

(b)1L=2M+1S, so 10L=20M+10S.
10L+10M+10S=30M+20S
2M=3S, so 30M=45S
45S+20S=65S. One pail can fit 12S. so 65/12=5(5/12). Total needs 6 pails to fit 10L, 10M and 10S
