Why for part a(i) u have to take 2/5+3+2
The compost is made up of soil, sand and peat in the ratio 5:3:2 by volume.
In other words, there is a total of 5 units of soil, 3 units of sand and 2 units of peat within the total 10 units of material of the compost. To put simply, 50% of the compost is made of soil, 30% of the compost is made of sand and 20% of the compost is made of peat.
5 + 3 + 2 = 10, so in my working, the 2/10 represents the fact that 2 units out of the 10 units of the compost is made of peat.

Oh understand
Yup! The 50-litre peat consists of a mixture of soil, sand and compost in the ratio 5:3:2.
The 50-litre peat must have been made of 25 litres of soil, 15 litres of sand and 10 litres of peat based on the ratio 5:3:2.

Ok thank you
