If Jane takes 6 weeks to built the house on her own, then in 1 week she builds 1/6 of the house.

So in 4 weeks, she builds :
4/6 = 2/3 of the house

Since they built 1 house together in 4 weeks,

1 - 2/3 = 1/3

Karen built the other 1/3 of the house in the 4 weeks.

5b)

2/3 - 1/3 = 1/3

Jane built 1/3 more than Karen in the 4 weeks.

5a)

If Karen built 1/3 of the house in 4 weeks, then for the whole house,

4 x 3 = 12

She would take 12 weeks to build the house herself
