Draw a line vertically downwards from R to touch the x-axis at (4, 0), which is the coordinates required
Area of triangle
= ½ x base x perpendicular height
= ½ x (4 - p) x 4
= 8 - 2p
Since p = -2 ,
Area = 8 - 2(-2)
= 12
Or
Absolute length of OP is 2 .
So PS = 2 + 4 = 6
Area = ½ x 6 x 4 = 12
= ½ x base x perpendicular height
= ½ x (4 - p) x 4
= 8 - 2p
Since p = -2 ,
Area = 8 - 2(-2)
= 12
Or
Absolute length of OP is 2 .
