¾ are girls. 1/6 wear glasses.

Fraction = ¾ x 1/6 = 3/24 = ⅛

Or

¾ x 1/6 = 1/4 x 1/2
(after cancelling out common factor of numerator of left fraction and denominator of right fraction)

= ⅛

Or

¾ are girls so we can say 3 units out of 4 units are girls.

Now 1/6 of girls wear glasses. But 3 units can't be exactly. divided by 6. So we change the fraction such that the numerator is divisible by 6.

¾ = 6/8

So there are 6 units of girls , out of a total of 8 units of students.

1/6 of girls wear glasses so that's 1 unit.

So required fraction = 1/8
