Let the cost of 1 box of cookies be 5 units.
Then the cost of 1 bar of chocolates is 2 units.
Then the cost of 1 bag of sweets is 2 units - $1.50.

Liz buys 4 boxes of cookies, 3 bars of chocolates and 1 bag of sweets. They cost $68.50.

Cost of 1 bag of sweets = ?

Total cost of 4 boxes of cookies is 20 units.
Total cost of 3 bars of chocolates is 6 units.
Total cost of 1 bag of sweets is 2 units - $1.50.

Total cost of everything is 28 units - $1.50.

28 units - $1.50 = $68.50
28 units = $68.50 + $1.50 = $70
1 unit = $70 / 28 = $2.50
2 units = $2.50 x 2 = $5

Cost of 1 bag of sweets
= $5 - $1.50
= $3.50
