A:
5h fill 1 tank
1h fill 1/5 tank

B:
6h fill 1 tank
1h fill 1/6 tank

C:
3h fill 1 tank
1h fill 1/3 tank

together, 3 taps fill
1/5 + 1/6 + 1/3 = 7/10
[ 1/5 + 1/6 + 1/3 = 1/5 + 1/6 + 2/6
= 1/5 + 3/6
= 1/5 + 1/2
= 2/10 + 5/10
= 7/10

See 1 Answer

Tank A took 5h to fill tank. So in 1h it fills 1/6 of it.
Tank B took 5h to fill tank. So in 1h it fills 1/5 of it.
Tank C took 3h to fill tank. So in 1h it fills 1/3 of it.
So if all 3 were turned on at the same time, fraction of the tank that's filled in 1h
= 1/6 + 1/5 + 1/3
= 5/30 + 6/30 + 10/30
= 21/30
= 7/10

Welcome. The way to add the fractions up is to change the denominator to the same one. Then simplify the final fraction. There's a typo, it should be Tap instead of Tank
