There are 5 equal longer sides and 5 equal shorter sides.

5 equal longer sides + 5 equal shorter sides = 150cm

You can group them into 5 equal sets, each having 1 shorter and 1 longer side.

So 5 sets = 150cm

1 set = 150cm ÷ 5 = 30cm

Notice that ABCFE is just 1 longer + 1 shorter side

So ABCFE = 30cm

You don't have to assume any lengths to solve the question. And you shouldn't do so as no lengths are given. It will be considered mathematically incorrect.

Cannot assume that the longer sides are 20cm and the shorter sides are 10cm, as it is not given in the question. This is mathematically incorrect
