60% are 50c coins. So 40% are 20c and 10c coins.

Since there's same number of 20c and 10c coins,

40 ÷ 2 = 20
Each type makes up 20% of total.

ratio of 50c to 20c to 10c
= 60 : 20 : 20
= 3 : 1 : 1

For every 3 50c there's 1 20c and 1 10c.

we can group every 3 50c, 1 20c, and 1 10c as 1 set.

Total $ in a set = 3 x 50c + 20c + 10c
= 150c + 20c + 10c
= 180c

= $1.80

Number of sets = $27 ÷ $1.80
= 15

a)

Amount in 50c
= 15 x 150c (found earlier)
= 2250c
= $22.50

b)

Number of 20c coins
= 15 sets x 1 per set
= 15
