The triangle has a base equal to length of the rectangle.

The triangle has a height equal to width of the rectangle.

Area of the triangle
= ½ x base x height

= ½ x length of the rectangle x width of the rectangle

= ½ x area of rectangle

So area of the triangle is just half the area of the rectangle

= ½ x 112cm²
= 56cm²

See 1 Answer

112÷2=56

As the triangle is half of the rectangle
