Thank you for the answer. For part a, why 42 divide by 2 gives the no. of 50 cents coins exchanged?

Because it was equal before that. So if you transfer 21, 50c will have 21 fewer, and 20c will have 21 more. Which adds up to 42.

But the value of 21 x 50c ($10.50) is different fr 21 x 20c ($4.20). To get an equivalent value will require 52.5pieces of 20c coin?

The question is equal number of coins, not equal value of coins
