This is coming from the top of my head but the gradient of a tangent discusses the rate of change of a curve at a certain point where the tangent is drawn. On the other hand, are you sure this is a secondary 2 math question?

Gradient is discussed at the Secondary 2 level, as the steepness of a line. The y2 - y1 over x2 - x1 treatment is dealt with in Secondary 3.

Having said that, I don’t recall the tangent to a line terminology in Secondary 2.

Yeah honestly me too. My explanation seems way too high level for secondary two. So i guess in this case for your question it should be the steepness of the tangent.

This could be a question based on a curriculum with a non-local syllabus

The gradient of a tangent represents the slope of the curve at the single point where the tangent line touches the curve.
