NC = AN = 17cm (you should know why). Using Pythagoras theorem again, NC² +CV² = NV² since triangle NCV is right angled. 17² + CV² = 31² so CV² = 31² - 17² = 672. CV = √672. Volume of pyramid = ⅓ x base area x perpendicular height = ⅓ x (16 x 30) x √672 ≈ 4147.67403 = 4150 (3 s.f)
