2 boys take turns to ride 1 go-kart they rented for 1 hour. The total time played is 1 hour. But they shared the time equally and each only played ½ hour.

If each boy had their own kart instead, they could ride for 1 hour each.

So the time each boy played is ½ of the time they could have played if they didn't have to share and each had their own kart.

Likewise for 5 people playing badminton, only 4 people play at one time.

The time played by each of them is 4/5 of what they could have played if all 5 could play at the same time and they didn't have to take turns and share the court.

So 96 minutes is 4/5 of the time they could have played if there's no sharing of the court.

96 ÷ 4 = 24
24 x 5 = 120

If no sharing, each can play 120 min. This also tells you that they only played for /rented the court for 120 min.

120 min = 2 hours.

Each person play 96 mins
5 persons play = 5 x 96 mins= 480 mins
But at any time, only 4 people playing on court.

Therefore, they play for 480/4= 120mins.
So, they rent the court for 2 hours.

Hope this helps
