One Answer Below
Anyone can contribute an answer, even non-tutors.
We need to find the average speed of Jerry
So their combined distance in 1 hour
= 1200km ÷ 5 = 240km
Now, Tom is 20km/h slower.
So in 1 hour, he will travel 20km less than Jerry.
From 240km, add 20km to make their distance the same.
20km + 240km = 260km
Now this 260km is twice of Jerry's distance in 1 hour.
Jerry's distance in 1 hour
= 260km ÷ 2 = 130km
So his speed is 130km/h since he travelled 130km in 1 hour.
