Each time you shift right, the number is multiplied by 10.
Shifting right 3 times means x 10 x 10 x 10
= x 1000
So the new number is 1000 times the original
b)
New number : 1000 units
Original : 1 unit
Difference = 1000 units - 1 unit
= 999 units
999 units = 1458.54
1 unit = 1458.54 ÷ 999
= 1.46
Sum of the numbers = 1001 units
= 1.46 x 1001 = 1461.46
Or
In one step,
Sum = 1458.54 x 1001/999 = 1461.46
