Since they travelled at constant speed, if Jordan was 3.5 km ahead of Ella when Ella had travelled ½ the journey,

then for the remaining ½ of the journey Ella travelled, Jordan would be yet another 3.5km further ahead.

(if he didn't stop upon reaching Point B and continued travelling)

So 3.5km + 3.5km = 7km

So Jordan would be 7km ahead in total by the time Ella reached Point B, if he had continued cycling.

To travel this 7km, he would have taken

7km ÷ 20km/h
= 7/20 h
= 21/60 h
= 21 min

So Jordan would have been cycling for an other 21 min if he didn't stop at point B.

This tells you that he actually arrived 21 min earlier than Ella.

So since Jordan arrived at 10.45am,

10.45 + 00.21 = 10.66 = 11.06

Ella would have reached at 11.06am

See 1 Answer

The different distance = 3.5
Time taken = 3.5/20 = 0.175h = 10.5mins

Therefore in 1/2 of journey Ella have to cycle another 10.5mins to complete same journey as Jardon

So, for whole journey, Ella take 2 x 10.5 mins = 21 moons more to complete.

Ella will reached B at 10.45am + 21 mins = 11.05am
