For 1 to 99, there are 99 numbers.

1 - 9 : 9 single-digit numbers

Digits = 9 x 1 = 9

10-99 : 90 double-digit numbers

Digits = 90 x 2 = 180

Total = 9 + 180 = 189 digits

Now, for 1 to 200,

You already know the total for 1 to 99.

So you'll just have to to add the digits total for 100 - 200 to your 189 to get the answer.

100 - 200 : 101 three-digit numbers

Digits = 3 x 101 = 303

Total = 303 + 189 = 492 digits
