There are 6 glasses' amount of water in the container. 2 glasses' amount was taken out.

2 glasses out of 6 glasses = 2/6 = 1/3

1 - 1/3 = 2/3

2/3 of the water was left.

This is what the phrasing of the question suggests to find.

However , if it's looking for water left as the fraction of the container instead, then
we find 2/3 of the fraction inside the container.

2/3 x 5/8 = 10/24 = 5/12

The volume of water left in the container is 5/12 of the container's volume

Or

The container is only 5/12 full now
