8 small balls (or circles , if you prefer) are balanced by 1 big ball + 2 small balls

Notice that the 2 small balls on the right will be balanced by 2 identical small balls on the left?

8 - 2 = 6

So the remaining 6 small identical balls on the left are balanced by the big ball.

This tells you that weight of 1 big ball = weight of 6 small balls.

Since you already know 1 big ball weighs 240g,

Then 6 small balls weigh 240g.

1 small ball = 240g ÷ 6 = 40g
