End of Day 3, she's left with 2/3 of money.

So for the first 3 days, fraction of money she spent
= 1 - 2/3 = 1/3

Since it's an equal amount of $ every day, there should be 3 units of money spent for the first 3 days. Change the numerator to 3 by multiplying the fraction by 3.

1/3 = 3/9

3/9 ÷ 3 = 1/9

So each day she's spending 1/9 of her money.

End of Day 7 means she spent for 7 days.
Fraction = 1/9 x 7 = 7/9

1 - 7/9 = 2/9

She has 2/9 of her money left and that equals $2.80.

1/9 of total savings = $2.80 ÷ 2 = $1.40

Total = $1.40 x 9 = $12.60
