When partition is lifted, the water will start to occupy the entire base of the tank since it's flowing from G to H.
Base area = 85cm x 20cm = 1700cm²
31.45l of water = 31.45 x 1000cm³
= 31450cm³
Height of water in tank
= Volume of water ÷ base area
= 31450cm³ ÷ 1700cm³
= 18.5cm
