8/9 of N = 2/3 of S

9/9 of N = 2/3 x 9/8 = 3/4 of S

S: 4u
N: 3u

total = 7u

For this type of questions, look at the NUMERATOR.

8 and 2 have an LCM of 8.

Suppose both have 8 cookies.

For the first person whose 8/9 of cookies represents 8 cookies, the first person has 9 cookies.

For the second person whose 2/3 of cookies represents 8 cookies, the second person has 12 cookies.

So the total number of cookies is 21.

Ratio of the first person’s cookies to the total cookies is 9:21 = 3:7.
