At first,
oranges : pears : total = 5 : 2 : 7
In the end ,
oranges : pears : total = 10 : 11 : 21
Since the number of oranges sold equals the number of pears bought, the total number of fruits remains the same.
So we make the total number of units the same.
Multiply by 3,
At first,
oranges : pears : total = 15 : 6 : 21
Compare the two ratios,
Number of units of oranges sold = 15 - 10 = 5
Fraction that were sold
= 5/15
= ⅓
