May I know why 2/3 has to change to 4/6? Can we just take denominator 3+3=6 as total of red & blue stickers? Thank you

It’s just to make calculations simpler, but it’s not a must.

“In the end, she has 1/4 of stickers”

12 can be divided by 4, but 6 cannot be divided by 4 without leaving a remainder.

So 2/3 is changed to 4/6 to make things easier.

This would be the case if you had figured first before writing any working that that 6 units isn't exactly divisible by 4. It's kind of like planning beforehand.

If you had directly gone into writing the total as 6 units, you'll still have to change the denominator to 12 (or other numbers exactly divisible by 4) later on in the working so that it can be divided exactly.

So it's a matter of changing it first or later
