2x + y = 1
=> y = 1 - 2x ... ... ... [1]

y = x² + 2x - 3 ... ... ... [2]

subst. [1] into [2],
=> 1 - 2x = x² + 2x - 3

*corrected*

=> x² + 4x - 4 = 0
=> x = -4.828 or 0.828

y = 1 + 9.656 or y = 1 - 1.656
y = 10.656 or -0.656

A(-4.828, 10.656) &
B(0.828, -0.656)

midpt of AB is [ (-4.828+0.828)/2 , (10.656-0.656)/2 ]
= ( -2, 5 )

Sent. The coordinates are weird, but the midpoint is not. There is a reason for this.

Maybe. But I have cross-checked my answers with a graph plot from Desmond graphing calculator online.
