this means the gradient of this line y + 2x = 9 is -2 bcos the coefficient of x in the eqn is -2. ]

when y = 0, x = 9/2 = 4.5

equidistant from x & y axes means
x = y
subst. x = y into eqn
y + 2y = 9
y = 3
x = 3
