1 plate + 1 bowl cost $12.80
so
5 plates + 5 bowls cost $12.80x5
= $64.00

sale
5 plates + 11 bowls cost $89.20

6 bowls cost 89.20-64 = $25.20
1 bowl costs $25.20 / 6 = $4.20
3 bowls cost $25.20 / 2 = $12.60

1 plate costs 12.80 - 4.20 = $8.60

2 plates + 3 bowls cost 8.6x2 + 12.6
= $29.80

Wrong. You changed 12.60 to 12.80

Actually Snell's answer is correct. In fact your working in the answer you posted is incorrect as you wrote 12.60 instead of 12.80.

Always check your own working properly and carefully, and ensure it is absolutely correct, as well as confirm that the other's is incorrect before you comment and post your own answer.

When you don't and get corrected, it only makes you look silly and you end up embarrassing yourself.

Check your working again. 1 plate and 1 bowl cost 12.80, not 12.60. (you actually wrote this correctly in the first step of your working)

Yet you mistakenly wrote 12.60 a few steps later and subtracted 4.20 from it, which is wrong as 12.60 is the cost of 3 bowls, not 1 plate and 1 bowl.
