no. of bags: u
no. of muffins: 3u + 5

no. of muffins: 4u - 2

3u + 5 = 4u - 2
u = 7

(a)
7 bags => 7 nbrs

(b)
no. of muffins: 3x7 + 5 = 26

If u need a non algebraic answer.
Imagine handing out 3 muffins to all of your friends.
Now that u want each of them to have 4 instead, you just have to pass one muffin to each of them now. That will be using the 5 muffins that you have left. But you realise u need another 2 means there were 2 people you weren't able to pass it to.
5+2 = 7 people
With that you can find the number of muffins.
7 × 3 + 5 = 26
