u1 = 2^0 + 1 = 2^(1-1) + (2 x 1 - 1)
u2 = 2¹ + 3 = 2^(2-1) + (2 x 2 - 1)
u3 = 2² + 5 = 2^(3-1) + (2 x 3 - 1)
u4 = 2³ + 7 = 2^(4-1) + (2 x 4 - 1)

See the pattern? It's always 2^(term number - 1) + (2 x term number - 1)

so for c) we're finding the nth term. It's just

un = 2^(n-1) + 2n - 1

You just got to look for the trends, I really don't know how to explain that but all i can say is focus on the numbers in relation with "n".
