25% fewer boys and girls.
So 100% - 25% = 75%

The number of boys are 75% the number of girls.

Total = 100% + 75% = 175%

Difference = 25%
= 25/175 x 1225
= 175

(You can also see this as
boys = 75 units,
girls = 100 units,
total = 175 units = 1225 people
Difference = 25 units )

Or

Ratio of boys to girls = 75 : 100
= 3 : 4

Total = 4 units + 3 units = 7 units
Difference = 4 units - 3 units = 1 unit

1225 x 1/7 = 175

You see a 2/5 for number of Malay books being loaned out.

① So let the total number of Malay books be 5 units. Then the number that's loaned out is just 2 units.

② Since number of English books are 4 times as many, you can find the number of units of English books easily from the info in step ①

25% = 25/100 = 1/4

With these info, you can easily find the answer. Idea is the same as previous question.
