Understand that the total is 100%.
Step 2:
Find the number of children.
Half of 100% = 100% ÷ 2 = 50%.
50% are children.
Step 3:
Find the number of women.
10% men, 50% children, the rest are women.
Therefore,
number of women = 100% - 10% - 50% = 40%.
Step 4:
Find the ratio of men to women to children.
M : W : C
= 10 : 40 : 50
= 1 : 4 : 5 <-- this is the solution
(Simplify the ratio by dividing throughout by the highest common factor, 10)
