Universal indicators only serve to check the pH value of the solution. Salt, water etc should not be formed upon contact with universal indicators.

Because universal indicators turn acids red and turn alkalis blue/violet. Sulphuric acid is an acid, so the universal indicator will turn it red.

The colour varies depending on the pH. I am not so sure of the colour for ethanoic acid, but because it is a weak acid, I would expect the colour to be around light orange.

You can take the colours of the rainbow as a general guideline. Neutral solutions should be green. It turns towards blue in alkaline solutions and towards red in acidic solutions.
