2/(5z - 1) = -3/4

We “cross-multiply” to get

2 (4) = -3 (5z - 1)

We expand to get

8 = -15z + 3

Careful of the sign! Next, we bring over the numbers to one side.

-15z = 5

Finally, we obtain z.

z = -1/3

It should be -15z = 5, then z = -5/15 = -1/3
