SAS similarity.

angle DAC = angle EAB (common angle)

AE/AD = 6/(3.6 + 6) = 6/9.6 = 5/8 or 0.625

AB/AC = 7/(7 + 4.2) = 7/11.2 = 5/8 or 0.625

So, AB/AC = AE/AD

Since ratios of two corresponding sides are equal and the included angle is the same, by SAS the two triangles are similar.

Use the ratio to solve part b.

Important to take note on what values tue question provides. In this case using the SAS (Side-Angle-Side) method is the quickest and least complicated.
