Quite confusing. Need help...pls

The three shaded areas are of equal area. Fit them together into one circle and you will get half a circle exactly.

The triangle is equilateral as all sides are of equal length (each side = 2 x radius = 2 x 40cm = 80cm)

So all the angles are 60°. A whole circle is considered 360° so each shaded area is 1/6 of a circle. 3 of them gives you ½ a circle's area
