Box A left half is 50 cent coins, mean 50cent coins and $1 coins left are same.

Hi, can I check with u why 1/2 of the coins in box A is equal to 1u, still don’t understand...
1/2 of the coin is 50c mean total have 2u, 50c = 1u and $1 coin = 1u

Teacher, Is it because we don’t know how much coins we are going to transfer to box b, so we put it as 1U?
